Calaveras USD seeks candidates to serve as appointed trustee for Area #1

The Calaveras Unified School District is soliciting applications to serve as an appointed trustee for Area 1 of the Board of Trustees.  Area 1 includes the area of Jenny Lind/Rancho Calaveras communities.  The term of the appointment will be for a full, four year term. 

The Board is seeking candidates who have the ability and time to fulfill the responsibilities of the following activities: 

• Participating fully in the work of the Board, which includes attending all Board meetings and important school events (Back to School Nights, Open Houses, etc), studying and discussing policy issues, and participating in trustee education programs.  
• Being knowledgeable regarding financial issues facing the district and the school community in general. 
• Being knowledgeable about the communities served by the school district and being willing to act on behalf and for the benefit of those communities.  
• Being committed to public education and their missions; understanding educational, social, and economic policy issues.  
• Engaging in balancing the needs of many diverse groups; being able to contribute to and build consensus. 
• Work with fellow Board Members in the selection of the next superintendent of the District (Interim Superintendent Estes’ term will end in June 2024).
• Contributing to effective Board functioning and supporting the authority of the Board as a whole. The Board of Trustees meets twice monthly on Tuesdays and Thursdays unless noted otherwise.

Applications are due no later than 4 pm on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024.  The Board intends to interview candidates on Tuesday, October 22nd 2024, and could make an appointment at that meeting.
