Calaveras Unified School District Budget Update December 2025
In September of 2025 District's proposed budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026 was approved by the Board of Education and the by the Business Office of the Calaveras County Office of Education.
In December and April of each year, the district is required to present and approve the First Interim Report. The First Interim Report is due by December 15th of each year and the Calaveras Unified School District Board of Education approved this document at its December 11th meeting.
An "Interim Report" is a snapshot in time of the financial & budgetary status of the district at a point in time. The report includes a multiyear projection showing the financial projections for the current and two subsequent fiscal years. The First Interim Report presented by staff indicates a "Positive Certification"; in other words, the district will likely meet all if its financial obligations over the next three fiscal years.
This is the first "Positive Certification" finding since April 2023 when the district's financial situation was first revealed. The district later had two consecutive "Negative Certifications" which led to Calaveras County Office of Education assistance and intervention.
Although our financial situation has improved, there is still need for caution as our district has reduced, but not eliminated deficit spending the next three years.
Fiscal restraint will continue to be a focus of our financial efforts at least for another two years.
